Today's volleyball session was organized with different objectives in mind when selecting player groups. One part of the session aimed to recreate real match situations for team and tournament player configurations in preparation for the upcoming tournament. Meanwhile, the KOB (King of the Beach) male player group focused on identifying the best male player using the King of the Beach system. In this format, advanced male players engaged in matches, keeping count of their wins in various team configurations.
Michael was responsible for the tournament players group, while Frank led the King of the Beach male players group. Frank reported that in the King of the Beach group, the crown was hotly contested between him and Demian. However, due to the last match, which added Matteo into the mix and resulted in both Demian and Frank winning the same number of matches, the winner couldn't be conclusively determined. In this case, it was decided that Demian and Frank would share the crown.
A notable aspect of the matches was the emphasis on digging as a primary tactic among male players. This highlighted the advanced level of play within this group:
Demian: 85% success in digging
Christian: 80% success in digging
Frank: 90% success in digging
Matteo: 80% success in digging
Will: 75% success in digging
In various tactical categories, the winners were as follows:
Demian: Best at blocking
Christian: Impressive in smash/spikes
Frank: Excellent at executing shot cuts
Will: Exceptional in setting
Matteo: Outstanding in deep-line defense
It's worth noting that in all the male matches in the KOB system, each male player demonstrated their effective ability to dig and defend every corner of the field, leading to extended rallies.
Christian, who had been absent for two months, displayed an almost complete return to his peak form. Matteo, playing for the second day after four months of abstinence, delivered an outstanding performance.
In the final match, the winners of the King of the Beach team faced off against the winners of the tournament players group. In this match, Fernanda, the only woman competing, displayed her defensive capabilities exceptionally well. Her improved reactions, positioning, and set control were evident. Although the mixed team of Demian & Fernanda narrowly lost to the men's team of Frank & Christian by a mere 2-point difference, it was a remarkable performance by Fernanda.
In the tournament team configuration, the following teams were set up:
Mariana and Fernanda
Ana and Mariana
Ana & Dan
Anna & Matteo
Demian & Fernanda
Demian & Anna
Ana & Will
It was noticeable that in the second matches of each of these teams, all players demonstrated better synchronization and performance. Among these configurations, Fernanda & Mariana played with the most fluidity, while Demian & Fernanda complemented each other well in their play. Ana & Dan proved to be a promising team, steadily gaining power as a mixed team.
In total, we were able to conduct four men's matches and five mixed team matches under today's cloudy and fresh temperature conditions with a light breeze, which created perfect playing conditions.
Kudos to all the players for their outstanding performances in today's session. Well played everyone!
